I was very happy to interview Simon McBride (aka @smcbridemusic) via Skype as his music kept on showing up when I did some listening in shuffle mode to go through all the music I receive.
And each time it happened I said to myself "I really MUST have this guy in the show!".
That's the method I use: I hit play and if the music I hear interests me I take a note. When it happened several times for the same artist, it really means I am on to something.

The Aristocrats is what you can call a super group with Guthrie Govan on the guitar, Bryan Beller (aka @bryanbeller) on bass on Marco Minnemann on drums. I had the great opportunity to talk to 2 out of the 3 members of the band.
Here is part 1 of 2 with the interview of Bryan Beller who also played with none other than Steve Vai among many others.
I tremendously enjoyed the Aristocrats debut album. Yes, it's chock full of incredible technical work but it is even more full of great songs with great melodies and feelings all over the CD.
We are talking music here, it's NOT a boring intellectual jazz-fusion thing. I can't wait to see those guys play live.

Il y a un peu plus d'un an lors d'un déplacement professionnel sur Lyon j'ai eu l'occasion de rencontrer le luthier Hervé Tonnard qui a une approche bien particulière de son métier.
En effet il se dit plus passionné par la réparation, la modification et la restauration d'instrument plutôt que par la construction elle-même. Néanmoins il fait des instruments assez exceptionnels comme vous pourrez en juger dans l'article ci-dessous.

For the second time I had the pleasure to meet and interview Bjorn Berge the great norwegian guitar player. The first time was last year in episode #78. The guy can be pretty intimidating but he is very cool and extremely nice.
I was at his New Morning show the night before we did the interview, he gave a superb show. The place was packed and the crowd very responsive to Bjorn. I highly recommend seeing him on stage, he rocks BIG time with "only" his 12 string guitars.

Ca décrasse dans cette épisode avec du métal en fusion issu de la musique de Stéphan Forté, guitariste d'Adagio, qui vient de sortir son album solo The Shadows Compendium. C'est du lourd, c'est du très lourd.
Oui ça shred sévère mais pas que! Il y a avant tout de belles musiques dans un univers bien particulier qui vaut le détour même si ce genre musical n'est pas forcément votre style de prédilection.

For the 2nd time (see #81 for the 1st interview), I had the pleasure to interview Popa Chubby as he was in paris to promote his latest album Back To New York City. After the interview we did a video recording of the song Pound Of Flesh you will see in next week episode.
Meeting and interviewing Popa is always some kind of adventure, this time we were supposed to to the interview in a radio studio but during the show he broke two strings so we had to go back to the hotel to get some new strings. We ended up doing the interview in the basement of his hotel in the gym room!

Déjà interviewé dans les épisode #27 et #101, Yvan Guillevic est de retour sur La Chaîne Guitare pour nous parler du disque qu'il vient de sortir avec son groupe de rock progressif PYG.
Encore une fois ce fût un grand plaisir que d'échanger avec Yvan. Je ne peux que vous encourager à découvrir sur superbe album qui remettra peut-être en cause certaines idées reçues sur le rock progressif (en tout cas, je l'avoue très humblement, ce fût le cas pour moi!).
A noter qu'Yvan sévit aussi au sein d'Empty Spaces qui est un groupe tribute to Pink Floyd.

Hello,
Here is a transcription by Jenn at Random Chatter Music of the Bjorn Berge interview I did back in episode #78.
He is a great acoustic norwegian guitar player. I had the pleasure to meet him while he was in Paris for a couple of shows. I saw him play for the Dixiefrog label party in Le Bataclan, it is quite something to see and hear this giant play for a packed house, he knows how to set the audience on fire.

Interview Ted Chocat lors du Festival Guitare Issoudun 2011
Suite à l'épisode LCG #045 Comment progresser Vol. 1, voilà (enfin!) une suite à ce sujet inépuisable.
L'essentiel de cette émission est composé de l'interview de Ted Chocat, excellent guitariste et non moins excellent professeur que j'ai eu le plaisir de rencontre à Issoudun lors de l'édition 2010 du Festival Guitare.
J'avais d'ailleurs profité de l'occasion pour suivre quelques jours de cours avec lui qui m'ont laissé un très bon souvenir et pas mal de boulot que je n'ai toujours pas épuisé!
